Welcome to the inaugural Lu Vason HBCU Sports Photo of the Year contest photo page. The contest was open in 2023, the inaugural year for Alabama State University students who covered sports in their journalism department. In 2024, the contest will be open to all HBCU School journalism department photographers. This year’s photos were judged by a panel of three distinguished individuals in their respective professions. We hope to have those same three Judges next year and possibly add a couple more. We also look forward to providing more contest money and prizes in 2024.
